Late Sheriffs Widow Dies at Hueysville In Her 83rd Year

Mrs. Amanda Gearheart Martin, 82 years old, widow of F.F. Martin, onetime Floyd Co Sheriff, died Friday at the family home on Salt Lick Creek, near Hueysville, a   victim of illnesses attendant upon advanced age.

Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late Woots Gearheart, a pioneer of the Right Beaver Creek section, and had hundreds of friends and relatives in this and neighboring counties. She was a devout member of the Regular Baptist Church. Surviving are seven sons and daughters:

Mrs. Landon Martin, Hueysville, Banner Martin, Akron, 0; Green Martin, Columbus, 0; Joel C. Martin, Garrett; Tip and James Martin, Hueysville; and Mrs. Mousie Tumer, Prestonsburg.

      Funeral rites were conducted from the Christian Church at  Hueysville, the Revs. Ed Howard, Alex Coburn and George Patrick  officiating. Burial, directed by the Ryan Funeral Home, was made in the Jim Allen Cemetery, near Hueysville.
