Herbert Deskins
1901-1995 Jones- Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements for
Herbert Deskins Sr., who died Monday,.June 12, 1995, at Paul B. Hall Regional
Medical Center.
Mr. Deskins was born
December 19. 1907 in
Mingo County, West Virginia,the son of the late Lilbum Sydney Deskins and
Effie Duncan Deskins. He was a retired miner and member of UMWA.
Surviving are his wife,
Grace Honshell Deskins; two sons, Alfred Deskins of Lexington and State
Representative Herbert Deskins Jr. of Pikeville: one daughter, Joan Branham of
Nicholasville; one brother, Lilburn Sydney Deskins of Austin, Texas;
one sister, Maxine Maynard of Gary Indiania and seven grandchildren and
four great-grand children.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday, June 14, at Jones Preston Funeral Home Chapel,
with Sam Casebolt and Larry Joe Bayes officiating. Burial was in Highland
Memorial Park at Staffordsville. His grandsons served as pallbearers.
