where they attended for 100 years or
more

Close up picture of the stained glass window that is dedicated to the Hounshell's the doors to this church are never locked! The pictures of this church as well as my genealogy is the result of the many hours and research and thanks to my cousin Allen Hounshell. Also from the book written by Clifford Canfield: "The Hounshell's of Southwest Virginia"

Hounshell

My great grandfather James Franklin Hounshell born Feb 28,1868 in Breathitt Co Ky and died April 10,1945 in Floyd Co Ky he was the son of Thomas Jefferson and Elizabeth Sheffield Hounshell my
great-grandmother Nannie Howard Hounshell born May 16, 1879 in Menifee, Ky and died Oct 16, 1916 in Floyd Co Ky, after the birth of her twin boys who also died at birth, she was the daughter of Hirum H and Nancy Howard. James Franklin's family were farmers in Breathitt Co. James left Breathitt Co to work in
the Morgan Coal Mines, where he met and married Nannie Howard. James came from Morgan Co. on a work train to Wayland in Floyd Co. where he went to work for Elkhorn Coal Corp. He lived the rest of his days in Wayland.
James Franklin
Hounshell's head stone reads Honshell but I have the death certificate of Nannie Howard Hounshell with his signature in his own hand writing it is spelled Hounshell. Some of the Hounshell children spell the name Honshell, but my father chose to use the traditional spelling as his grandfather
Hounshell. The babies are Elizabeth Honshell Spears and Ida Honshell Bassham. Picture was taken 1902 in Breathitt Co Kentucky.
