Following a competition among various lines and departments, the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Company announced yesterday that John Vanhoose, 63-year-old section foreman of Richardson, Ky., had been chosen "Worker Father of The Year" in connection with Father's Day.

He is the father of nineteen children, fifteen of them living, and has fifteen grandchildren. His working record covers forty three years, starting in 1904, when he started with the railroad as a laborer. He has been a foreman for the last twenty five years and in that time has won fifteen awards in the lines annual competition for the best section in the district.

He and Mrs. Vanhoose, to whom he was married to forty years ago, are to be the guest of the railroad , in New York for the week of June 8-15. Mrs. Vanhoose is 55. 

          Below are my notes from my family tree and per Joyce Lindstrom's book, John was my 2nd cousin 4xs removed.        

John Vanhoose was born January 20, 1885 in Peach Orchard, Lawrence Co., Kentucky. He was the s/o Wallace Walter VanHoose and Julia Fannin, a grandson of Jesse VanHoose and Mary Oneida (Edy) Brown and a great grandson of (Col) John VanHoose and Mary Bryan. He married on May 08, 1907 to Ella Butcher. They had the following 19 children, Eugene VanHoose, Gladys VanHoose, Clifford VanHoose, Mary VanHoose, Clarence VanHoose, Evelyn VanHoose, Millard VanHoose, Willard VanHoose, John Jr. VanHoose, Warren G VanHoose, Walter Hubert VanHoose, James Randolph VanHoose, Wilda VanHoose, Barbara VanHoose, Joada Josephine VanHoose, Chester VanHoose, Ruth A VanHoose, Jonella VanHoose, Paul D VanHoose.

WOW!! I think Mrs. Ella VanHoose deserved to get the "Mother and Wife of The Year Award" As Well !
